Executive Summary By Jake Wilson

There are various early signs of labor. You should always be aware of what these labor signs are so that you are prepared to deal with them properly if they occur. Such early signs of labor include a nesting instinct, nausea and diarrhea, vaginal spotting and bleeding, a lightening in the pelvis, membrane rupture of the amniotic sac and Braxton Hicks contractions

Throughout these nine months, women take on several hormonal changes which affect the body greatly. Others experience a nesting instinct where the woman is recharged and full of life and energy just a few days prior to the birth.

Mucus blood spotting is also common. Women discharge mucus as the cervix begins to open up and it leaves a brown to pink blood mucus spotting. Lightening is another early sign of labor. A woman will notice that she has more air as the lungs have more room to work because the baby has dropped into the pelvis in preparation for delivery. For first time deliverers, this can happen weeks before labor begins, while second to multiple deliverers may experience lightening hours before.

As the delivery approaches many women experience false contractions known as Braxton Hicks Contractions. The membrane of the amniotic sac will rupture before real contractions start.

Six Common Signs Of Labor

To prepare for labor, you should look for the common signs of labor so that you can prepare yourself for childbirth.

Some of the common signs of labor are as follows:

The following six signs indicate that labor is just few days or weeks away.

You feel light and you can breathe again. This is the sign that your baby has dropped down and is settling into the pelvis releasing pressure from your diaphragm. However, you might feel increased pressure on your bladder and you might have to make several trips to the bathroom now!

During pregnancy, the cervical opening is plugged by mucus to prevent bacteria from entering the uterus. When your cervix begins to relax, this mucus plug is expelled. Many women believe that the plug will be solid. In fact, it is in the form of a thick discharge of stringy mucus. It is either clear in color, pink or tinged with blood. The mucus plug can be expelled minutes, hours or days before labor begins.

Just 1 in 10 women experience a gush of amniotic fluid when the membranes rupture. Most often, the amniotic fluid will just leak in the form of small trickle. However, many women are unsure whether it is amniotic fluid or urine because many pregnant women leak urine during the later stages of pregnancy. You should discuss with your doctor what you should do if the membranes rupture because the risk of infection increase and your doctor might decide to induce labor.

Just before you go into labor, you will have a sudden spurt of energy. You will realize that you can do things like cleaning, buying groceries or cooking without feeling tired. This means that your labor is just round the corner and you will do yourself a lot of good by saving up the energy.

Effacement of cervix starts in the last month of pregnancy. Your cervix will become thin and it will start to stretch to make it easy for the cervix to dilate when you deliver your baby. Your doctor will start checking for effacement in the last 2 months of pregnancy and he or she will tell about the progress.

Dilation of the cervix opening means your body is preparing for labor. Dilation is usually measured in centimeters and at times during internal examination, the doctor might measure it in fingers. If you are fully dilated, your dilation measures 10 centimeters and you are ready to give birth. Doctors start checking for dilation in the last 2 months of pregnancy and will keep you informed about this.

Executive Summary By Rob Small

If you are trying for a baby, waiting to take that all-important test every month can be extremely torturous. Test too early and you may risk a false negative despite the recent improvements in pregnancy testing kits.

The best time to take a pregnancy test is officially after you have missed a period in order to achieve the most reliable result. By taking a pregnancy test after your longest expected cycle, you are more likely to be provided with an accurate result. This has resulted in many women choosing newer, more sensitive pregnancy testing kits to achieve an earlier response.

Pregnancy testing kits are designed to detect the hormone hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotrphin) in a woman’s urine. If you take an early pregnancy test too quickly, you must bear in mind that you may get a false negative, as implantation may not have yet taken place. In this case wait three or four days and take the test again.

It is worth remembering that the length of time between fertilisation and implantation varies from woman to woman and between pregnancies, but on average it is around six to 12 days after ovulation. This means the earliest day you can test and expect a positive result is seven days after you have ovulated.

As there are many different pregnancy-testing kits available on the market, so are there varied sensitivity levels within the tests themselves. If you are looking to test earlier, look for a kit with a high sensitivity level. A number you will find on the packaging denotes the level of sensitivity, ranging from 20ml/U to 150ml/U. Shop bought tests are between 97 and 99% accurate when used properly. By testing first thing in the morning, your hCG level would have accumulated overnight if you were pregnant and would be easier to detect.

Try not to drink too many fluids prior to testing so as not to dilute your hormone level and always check the result after the recommended time.

Early Pregnancy Test Result – How to Confirm Pregnancy

Executive Summary By Jessica H

Conception is the union of the male sperm and the female egg.

Once a woman begins menstruating, ovulation provides for the release of an egg in each cycle. The dominant egg in one of the ovaries matures and is released into the fallopian tube. Each ovary releases an egg alternately. In rare cases, both the ovaries release an egg each, simultaneously, and this may result in the conception of twins. The released egg reaches the fallopian tube.

In the fallopian tube, the sperm and the egg meet and fertilization takes place. This protein-rich fluid is used to nourish the egg till it reaches the uterus.

Once the fertilized egg gets implanted in the uterus lining, the developing placenta starts producing hCG. hCG is also known as the early pregnancy hormone. An early pregnancy test result that shows the presence of this pregnancy hormone in blood and urine samples will confirm pregnancy. Initially, the level of hCG is very low in an early pregnancy test result, but as the pregnancy progresses, it rapidly increases. Tests are sensitive enough to detect hCG levels of 5 mIU/ml in an early pregnancy test result . Even these levels during pregnancy tests are regarded positive.

Executive Sumamry By Rylee James

Some parents like to become part of a social network where they can interact with people at the same place in life. Not every parent is fortunate enough to have a strong support system, however. And many people don’t have the time for weekly social outings, which often consist of the comparison game instead of getting answers and support for their concerns.

Many parents are hesitant to ask questions or share their concerns with people they see face-to-face on a regular basis. Yet during pregnancy and early parenting is when people really need emotional support and answers to their questions. An online forum is a great way to stay connected with other parents who are going through similar experiences.

Asking questions in an understanding environment is important to every parent. With an online forum, we realize there are many other parents facing the same issues as us. Creating a user account prevents a lot of useless information and unwanted posts from people who are just browsing the site. Having your own member account means you are committed to interacting with other members on the site and respect their input.

5 Common Early Pregnancy Questions Answered

By Sophia David

During the early stages of pregnancy, many women have many of the same questions. Here is a list of them with answers to help you understand these issues.

- Question: Is it possible for a woman to still have her period when she’s pregnant?

Answer: Not in the sense of a “normal” period. She might have a bit of unusual bleeding while pregnant, and some women think this is her period, since it often comes around the same time she would otherwise get her period. However, this bleeding should not be enough to fill tampons or pads during a period of a few days. If it is enough, this probably indicates you’re not pregnant.

- Question: What if I do have a heavy period, and yet have all the signs of being pregnant?

Answer: Then you should see a physician to find out what’s happening. Such a case might b caused by infection, an imbalance in hormones, even a miscarriage. Only a doctor can diagnose is for sure.

- Question: What if I start bleeding after I’ve had a positive test for pregnancy?

Answer: It’s not unusual for women to experience some bleeding or spotting during early pregnancy; about 25 to 30 percent do. As long as this is a light bleeding, don’t be overly concerned about it, as you will likely have a normal pregnancy and healthy child. However, around 50 percent of those who experience this light bleeding will then have heavier bleeding. This could ultimately lead to miscarriage.

If you notice that the bleeding is getting heavier, and you’re also experiencing painful cramping or back pain, you should call your doctor immediately. If, on the other hand, you experience only slight spotting, and it then goes away, just be sure to tell your physician at your next appointment, so they know what’s going on during your pregnancy.

- Question: What if, during my pregnancy, I experience some cramping?

Answer: It’s not uncommon for women to experiencing light cramping early during pregnancy. This resembles light menstrual cramps, and is usually a result of changes taking place in the uterus. Don’t let light cramping worry you over-much, but as with everything, share it with your health care provider the next time you see him / her.

- Question: I missed my period but had a negative pregnancy test. Does this indicate I’m not pregnant?

Answer: The negative test could indicate one of several things: You might not be pregnant, might have taken the test too soon, or you might have simply took it wrong (since these tests vary in sensitivity). If a test sits for too much time, the results you get will not be reliable. Be sure to follow the instructions contained with the kit.

Pain Control Options for a Pregnancy

Executive Summary By Kenneth Elliott

The pain/reward of giving birth varies from person to person, but in most cases expectant women, especially when giving birth the first time, may want less pain in order to better enjoy the reward.

Both for mother and child low doses of anesthesia will reduce any problems that may occur during childbirth. Preparation with your partner well before the onset of labor is the first step. Lamaze or Bradley training is helpful, in order to learn good breathing and relaxation techniques. Some training involves learning focusing techniques. Focus techniques involve zeroing in on the need to push or the progress, rather than the discomfort. Train up to the day.

Physical comfort can be enhanced by a variety of methods. Hot or cold packs can ease cramping. Sipping warm tea or ice water is sometimes helpful. If general anesthesia has to be given, doctors will require minimal liquid intake beforehand. Anesthesia can produce nausea and vomiting. Some hospitals will use tubs of water or even showers to maximize physical and mental comfort during labor. Techniques like these don’t require any training or practice, just the ability to remember to use them when needed. A general pain medication can range from over-the-counter remedies to mild narcotics. It’s important to be able to focus and participate during the process, so doctors keep the dosage to a minimum whenever possible. Stronger narcotics to ease pain can be used if necessary.

Local anesthetic is no longer an automatic choice. Studies revolving around the neurological effects on the baby have made doctors and mothers very conservative. The drug is injected into a space at the base of the spinal column.

Getting Pregnant – The Best Options For Getting Pregnant!

Executive Summary By Abhishek Agarwal

Staying healthy and keeping the right weight, consuming balanced and nutritious food, and taking a pre pregnancy examination are very much required while taking the path to parenthood, however, on a lighter note, ascertaining the best positions for getting pregnant can just spice things up.

Now, the defect in this theory is that, a man has to have time enough to have his sperm count replenished. Well, it has now been confirmed for sure that having sex on alternate days when ovulating is a better option, and so we can study some of the more preferred positions for getting pregnant. However, it needs to be stressed that the best positions for getting pregnant have no scientific foundation.

Well, logical reasoning declares that many of the positions that initiate pregnancy are those, which facilitate gravity. It is for this very purpose that medical professionals suggest adopting the missionary position, where the man is on top. In all probability any position that is assumed can quite likely result in a woman getting pregnant.

In truth, dousing tends to throw the pH levels of the vagina and the sperm totally out of balance, making the sperm’s travel to its final destination extremely tough. Besides, the vaginal secretions that occur naturally and assist in the smooth passage of the sperm become diluted.

Even though no ideal positions for becoming pregnant exist, the use of logic and enforcing plenty of patience will go a long way to make certain that this effort pays off.

How to get through the first month pregnancy symptoms

Pregnancy doesn’t have to be a frightening experience. One of the first month pregnancy symptoms is nausea or intermittent dizziness. A majority of pregnant women experience the so-called “morning sickness” which is characterized by a queasy feeling in the stomach often accompanied by vomiting. This first month pregnancy symptom can be neutralized by sucking sour candy or sniffing smelling salts or ammonia. Nausea can be triggered by various smells which are unpleasant for the pregnant woman. Mild headaches can be relieved by drinking cold water. Morning sickness last until around your third month of pregnancy until it disappears completely. Most first month pregnancy symptoms are brought about by the hormonal changes that simultaneously happen due to your delicate condition.

Having tender breasts, or experiencing soreness and heaviness, is another first month pregnancy symptom, as is experiencing pain in the lower part of your abdomen. These symptoms, though, are also present during PMS, so many pregnant women confuse them as signs of an upcoming menstrual period.

Mood swings are also common first month pregnancy symptoms [http://www.pregnancyhelpblog.com/category/pregnancy-development]. In terms of weight, not all women experience an increase in girth around the midsection. A few, in fact, even lose weight – probably because another first month pregnancy symptom is loss of appetite.

Symptoms of Pregnancy During the First Month – Know the Facts

Executive Summary By Ritusmita Biswas

The manifestation of the changes during the first month of pregnancy can be different in different women. Swollen and tender breasts are common signs of the early pregnancy. The body gradually adapts to the new situation and the hormonal changes. Most women complain of tiredness and fatigue during the first month of their pregnancy. Hunger pangs are common. However although some women have acute food cravings, some are known to have an acute dislike for food. Many experience morning sickness which is a common phenomenon during the first month of pregnancy. Women generally have a heightened sense of smell during this period. You can always consult a doctor if it becomes unbearable.

During the first month you will feel exhausted as the body experiences a good number of metabolic changes. There is a change in the hormonal balance which can affect the digestive system and also contribute to your morning sickness. If you suffer from morning sickness, you can eat in small portions all through the day which will keep the body nourished.

Summary By Popsrisuk Posak

A pregnancy ultrasound is one of the most basic tests that are conducted after initial confirmation of the pregnancy. An ultrasound is conducted at normal intervals for determining the position and growth of the baby. It is generally utilized by the doctors for getting an accurate picture of a mother’s pregnancy. Use of 3D pregnancy ultrasound is an extremely useful tool for diagnosis of the fetus in the mother’s womb. In some of the countries, a routine ultrasound scanning is performed for identifying the potential defects of the baby before birth.

Researches have indicated that ultrasound scanning is extremely safe for an unborn child while other methods such as radiography are harmful for the fetus as it uses ionizing radiation. Sound waves of very high frequency between 3.5 – 7.0 MHz are normally used in this procedure. How an ultrasound is done?
The recurring beams of the ultrasound scan the baby and go back to the transducer. The data obtained from the different reflections recomposes in the form of a picture on display screen. 3D pregnancy ultrasound can also be helpful in identifying any structural abnormalities of the fetus.

Is it safe?
Ultrasound of the full bladder is necessary when scanning of the abdomen is performance at an early stage of pregnancy. A pregnancy ultrasound is helpful for determining the exact age of the fetus and its status of development in various stages. The ultrasound can reveal if there is more than one fetus, whether there are any problems with the fetus or the placenta’s position is accurate or not. Any problem with uterus or any abnormality during pregnancy can be revealed through a pregnancy ultrasound.

4D Pregnancy Ultrasound – A Great Way to Have a Glimpse of Your Baby

Pregnancy and childbirth are the most memorable moments in a woman’s life. There are full-range pregnancy ultrasounds services available that provide each and every detail about your child. Understanding the 4D pregnancy ultrasound

An ultrasound is basically understanding the sound waves in order to form a unique picture of the little fetus. The images that are produced due to this ultrasound are remarkably clear. The couple can view the pictures of their baby through the live video of the womb and the fetus.

The 4D ultrasound also means that the life-like images of the fetus can be easily viewed in real time in order to see and study the various activities of the little baby inside the mother’s womb. There are a large number of benefits that this 4D pregnancy ultrasound provides. The fact that the image of the baby is more clearly seen and is realistic makes this ultrasound all the more appreciated and demanded. It is seen that when the mothers form a bonding with their unborn baby, they tend to take great care of themselves as well as the baby thereby resulting in safe and healthy delivery. The 4D ultrasound facilitates the bonding to a great extent.

View your baby with 4D ultrasound

With the use of this 4D pregnancy ultrasound, the baby’s anatomy can be viewed more clearly – especially the baby’s legs, face, fingers, toes and arms. The situations when the baby’s face or movements cannot be noticed with the ultrasound are when the baby is looking down towards the mother’s spine. 4D ultrasound-safe

Despite various studies in the past 30 years, this 4D pregnancy ultrasound has not shown any harm to the baby or the mother. Clear pictures of the baby can be viewed throughout the pregnancy.

Pregnancy Yoga DVDs For the Expectant Mother

Executive Summary By Sherry Holistan

Luckily there are many classes that can help pregnant women deal with the changes that they are going through. Some may be more comfortable having help right at hand but depending on the level of commitments you have in your life to things like working, it might be downright impossible to make the extra time for special yoga classes. That’s where a pregnancy yoga DVD can come in to help.

Yoga is a good alternative because it can be adapted to suit the needs of each individual. By and large though, the best pregnancy yoga DVDs tend to focus away from excessively demanding positions.

This is a very important factor to consider when investing in a pregnancy yoga DVD. Any reputable yoga instructor will know that an expectant mother has limitations on the types of body poses which can be done. Anything which will result in inversion, compression of the abdomen, or the restriction of normal breathing is to be avoided, for obvious reasons. Understand that some changes in your body are just par for the course and accept them.

It’s not just your body being affected though. While it is true that these physical changes may cause a great deal of mental stress, expectant mothers are often plagued with other anxieties, from fear of the impending labour to concern over parenting skills, or the possible lack thereof. The best prenatal yoga DVDs will focus on the mind as well as the body. In many cases, a series of meditative poses are taught, along with instructions on relaxation techniques such as deep breathing. This can go a long way in keeping the pregnant woman firmly grounded emotionally and is not restricted to use during pregnancy. The key when choosing a good prenatal yoga DVD is ensuring that the tutor is a reputable individual. Pregnancy yoga DVD’s are a great way to keep your body and mind healthy during this stressful time and, if you haven’t already, you should give them some serious consideration.

Pregnancy Yoga DVDs For Fit Minded Mothers to Be

Executive Summary By Sherry Holistan

Pregnancy Yoga DVDs have become extremely popular all over the world for their convenience and ease of use. A pregnant woman has very specific needs and prenatal yoga DVDs must cover all of them. Teaching prenatal fitness involves a few challenges that no other exercise form will face. Luckily yoga as an exercise form has some of the best insights into the nature of movement and the human body. Prenatal yoga DVDs needs to emphasize overcoming the challenges of limited time and of working with people whose bodies are growing unfamiliar to them. An in depth understanding of anatomy is a crucial part of a good prenatal yoga teacher’s training. The expectant mother should be properly taught how to modify any existing yoga routine to suit her changing needs during pregnancy. As stated earlier, expectant mothers need support for both their bodies and minds. A good teacher of pregnancy yoga will be able develop routines that take into account the physical requirements as a woman’s body changes.

The mental preparation involved is extremely important for expectant mothers; therefore it is helpful if a pregnancy or prenatal yoga DVD also involves some introspection, meditation and reflection to benefit the expectant mother with her often heightened sense of awareness due to the bringing forth of new life.

Prenatal yoga DVDs can draw from a combination of all the extant styles of yoga, instead of limiting itself to a particular range of postures. There are specialists in pregnancy and prenatal yoga and those are the ones that often offer the best instruction.

Executive Summary By D. Grace

There are some things that should be avoided in your pregnancy diet plan to keep you and baby healthy. You and your unborn baby need a diet that has a balanced amount of vitamins and nutrients for overall good health. It is vital to the health of you and baby to have a good diet plan. If you are eating any of these foods now, it is time to take them out of your pregnancy diet plan.

Fish containing mercury should be immediately eliminated from your diet as mercury has been linked to birth defects and brain damage. Smoked seafood that has a label saying it is jerky, nova style, kippered or lox can be contaminated with listeria and should be put on your pregnancy diet plan as foods to avoid. Some canned smoked seafood may be okay to eat when used for cooking. Salmonella can live in raw meat, so any undercooked poultry or other meat should be avoided. You want to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby, so please incorporate a healthy pregnancy diet plan that will provide you and your baby all the healthy nutrients you both need. Make sure you get all the facts about healthy eating during pregnancy so you are fully informed about what foods to eat and what foods to avoid.

After Pregnancy Diet – How to Lose Weight After Pregnancy

Executive Summary By Kelly Aziz

The majority of women who have recently given birth have concerns about their extra weight that they have put on as a result of pregnancy. As a result women look for reliable after pregnancy diets that are safe for breastfeeding and easy to incorporate into their busy daily lives with their newborn.

You should also look for a diet that will make your life easier and simpler – a diet that won’t add extra strain to your busy daily life with its complicated recipes and meals. I followed a diet program that was easy, simple and allowed me to incorporate it into my life without hassle. This is exactly what I needed to keep me focused on my weight loss goals.

On top of this, make sure that your diet program involves exercise. Yes it is really hard to get started in exercise, especially after having a baby, but it is important for your health and weight loss goals. I learnt from my program to start slow. Taking it slow has allowed me to enjoy exercising! I also found that I lost my baby weight really easily and quickly too!

So remember – find a program that suits your weight loss needs and that can be incorporated into your life easily so it can become a long term and permanent help to your lifestyle.
While you may spend slightly more for quality up front, it will help to stave off the cost later in pregnancy.
Unplanned Pregnancy

By Bambang Hermanto

Pregnancy can occur at any time or place during a woman’s life. An unplanned pregnancy happens when you least expect it, like when you are getting a new promotion at work or after you have paid your car off. Pregnancy is not considered to be a good thing for a woman who does not want to have children in the near future, or at all. Being pregnant means carrying a baby in your womb for nine months, endearing physical changes to your body, and ultimately being responsible for another life for the next eighteen years.

If your pregnancy is unplanned, you may be upset with yourself and your partner for being irresponsible. You may also be confused if you used birth control but somehow it does not work. It could cause you to feel overwhelmed because you do not know what to do from here on out.

Before we discuss the options you have, let’s discuss what you need to do when your test comes out positive.

First, realize that an unplanned pregnancy is not the end of the world (even though you may think it is). It is not a life threatening situation, so do not panic. Do not make any rational decisions. Keep in mind, that you had no total control in the matter. Yes, you had irresponsible sex, but pregnancy is a chance of fate. You have no control over that your contraceptive stop working and no control over your partner’s urges. Once you regain control over your thoughts, you can start to decide rationally on what to do.

Face the responsibility and take it for what it is. Realize that you are no longer the victim of circumstance but the master of circumstance. Do not live in the past; think about the present and your future. It may take a while for that feeling of regret and guilt to go away, but it will go away. So take a deep breath, lift your head up, and move on.

If you are confused about what choices you have for your unplanned pregnancy, there are people you can talk to and websites you can visit to give you some sort of direction. Ultimately you have three choices: abortion, adoption, or being a parent.

While adoption or being a parent is a hard decision to make, so is abortion. With abortion, you are terminating a life. However, if this is your decision, make sure that it is your decision and there is no one else doing it for you. You need to do what is right for you and your life.
