Not one to forgo difficult issues, her chapter entitled ‘When Pregnancy Isn’t Perfect’ is one of the best I’ve read, both for its sensitivity and for its emphasis on coping and prevention.
Pregnancy Skin Care For Treating Acne During Your Pregnancy!

Executive Summary By Karen A Graham

Are you one of the lucky women whose skin glows with pending motherhood? Or are you one of the unlucky ones who has constant pregnancy skin care problems? If you find yourself with acne – this being the number one skin problem in pregnancy according to Ellen Marmur, MD, chief of dermatologic and cosmetic surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City – there are things that you can do.
You can’t just use any treatment to fight your acne, as you have to remember that certain products are harmful to the foetus.

An assistant clinical professor of dermatology and microbiology at NYU Medical Center in New York City, Sumayah Jamal, MD, PhD quite categorically says that any skin product that contains benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or any of the retinoids should be given a wide birth.

Jamal has some remedies that you can try which are not dangerous to your unborn baby and that is sulphur-based topical products with ingredients like glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids or any at-home microdermabrasion treatment.

During your pregnancy you may not be able to use the same beauty or skin care products that you did before you became pregnant because hundreds of skin or beauty items are loaded with artificial chemicals.

So for your baby’s sake be very careful what you apply to your skin. It isn’t only the baby that could suffer from these products – some of the ingredients used in skin care are very toxic and have been related to cancer causing. So even after the birth think about your own health and choose your skin creams and lotions just as wisely.

Executive Summary By Sophia David

Prenatal Care Providers:

OB/GYN:

OB/GYNs are doctors who have specialized extensively in caring for pregnant women and all aspects of the female reproductive system. This professional actually has two specialties; obstetrics, caring for a pregnant women, and gynecology, caring for the female reproductive system. Most OB/GYNs deliver in a hospital setting exclusively.

Family Practitioner:

A family practitioner is the type of doctor people see routinely for any medical treatment they may need. A family practitioner had to take training and practical experience in childbirth in order to receive his credentials, and should be quite capable of handling a normal, low risk pregnancy. Most family practitioners prefer to deliver in a hospital setting as a precaution against possible complications.

Midwives:

Midwives are health-care professionals who have trained extensively in the birthing process. Nurse/midwives also have a nursing degree and are able to perform some medical procedures should the need arise. In the case of complications, a nurse/midwife can get instructions from a doctor and carry out his instructions. General midwives have no medical training except that associated with labor and delivery of a child. Midwives generally only care for low risk pregnancies.

Pregnancy – The Importance of Prenatal Care

Executive Summary By Howard Haines

Those emotions may include happiness, excitement, hope, as well as fear.

Those issues and concerns may include money, additional living space, healthcare, and needed baby supplies, like baby formula and diapers. The moment that you learn that you are pregnant, you should start taking steps to receive prenatal care.

A few of the many reasons why you should actively seek prenatal care, when pregnant, are outlined below.

What you need to know is that prenatal care is important to your babys health, as well as your health. Although a large focus will be placed on your baby and its development, prenatal care is also used to ensure that you are healthy as well. Knowing if your baby will have any medical conditions is important, as it can help you financially prepare for those complications and any life adjustments that need to be made.

The above mentioned reasons are just a few of the many reasons why it is important that you seek prenatal care when pregnant. In addition to monitoring your health and the healthy of your baby, you should also seek prenatal care as it is a fun, exciting, and an important experience. When attending your prenatal care appointments, whether you be seeing a family practice doctor, an OBGYN, or a midwife, you should be able to see a sonogram of your baby, as well as hear his or her heartbeat. Despite the importance of prenatal care, there are many pregnant women who do not seek it. This occurs for a number of different reasons; however, the most common reason is associated with money. If you are currently uninsured or if your health insurance doesn’t cover prenatal care, you may be concerned with the cost of it, as you should be.

Executive Summary By Dave Greenstreet

Ovulation predictor kits are perfect for those couples who need a little help in the getting pregnant area.

Ovulation predictor kits are kits specifically designed to help you get pregnant. These kits work by letting you know when you are ovulating. When you are ovulating, it is the best time to have intercourse because your chances of getting pregnant have greatly increased. These kits work by testing your LH levels in your urine. Generally, your LH levels will increase right before you begin to ovulate. These ovulation predictor kits help you to better pinpoint your surge of LH levels, therefore giving you a more accurate estimate of when you will be ovulating. If you are a woman who has fertility issues, these kits can even tell you if you ovulate at all.

Not only does it help you pick the right choice, but you can usually buy the kits online at significant discounts.

A question you might have is when is the best time of day to use ovulation predictor kits? It is said that the best time of day to take the test is around 2 p.m., but any time between noon and 8 p.m. will work as well.

To conclude, if you are having trouble getting pregnant, then you should definitely give ovulation predictor kits a try.

Ovulation Predictor Kits – Find Your Window of Opportunity For Conception

Executive Summary By Lisa Simonelli Rennie

Determining when you ovulate is made easier with the use of ovulation predictor kits — or ‘OPK’s’ for short. Of course, ovulation is essential for conception to occur!

Ovulation occurs when a ripe egg is released. Using OPK’s helps to determine when ovulation will most likely occur during your cycle.

How Ovulation Predictor Kits Work

The egg is forced out of the fallopian tube with the assistance of a hormone, called luteinizing hormone (or LH). LH surges just before ovulation, and OPK’s detect this surge. Thus, if an LH surge is detected, ovulation will most likely occur within 12-36 hours.

Unlike charting your basal body temperature or cervical mucous, these kits PREDICT ovulation.

Tips On Using Ovulation Predictor Kits

– Test in the early afternoon – around 2pm is best. LH is usually produced in the morning, so you will be more likely to detect the LH surge in the afternoon;

– Start testing with ovulation predictor kits on approximately Day 8 of your cycle. If your cycle is short — such as 21 days — start testing around Day 5. This will minimize the risk of missing the surge of LH.

Don’t forget that once the LH surge is detected, ovulation will most likely occur within 12-36 hours.

Ovulation doesn’t necessarily happen every cycle.

Maximizing Chances of Conception With OPK’s

– If you start testing on Day 8, start having sex on Day 6 – a couple of days beforehand;

– Start having sex every day for 3 days straight days once the LH surge is detected.

If you have intercourse just before you ovulate, sperm will already be present in your body when the egg is released.Just thought you may be interested in reading this guide: pregnancy week.

The Most Important Pregnancy Exercise You Will Ever Do and Why

Executive Summary By Jacqueline Gradish

The muscles act as a sling to support a pregnant woman’s uterus and pelvic organs.

Common pregnancy symptoms such as urinary incontinence and hemorrhoids can be controlled and even prevented by performing pelvic floor exercises throughout your pregnancy. While pregnant, progesterone and relaxing hormones relax all smooth muscle in the body, not just the uterus. This leaves pregnant women vulnerable to smooth muscle issues such as prolapse of the uterus, rectum and bladder. Pelvic floor muscles are the main structure left to help support these organs and become of key importance. Kegals may also help facilitate labour with the pushing phase during a delivery.

Many times overlooked as a treatment or prevention for pregnancy related sacroiliac joint and hip joint pain and stress are kegal exercises. Fascial connections between pelvic floor muscles, sacroiliac ligaments, hip rotator muscles and hamstrings can refer stress and pain into sacroiliac and hip joint when pelvic floor muscles are weak.

The 3 main types of kegals women can perform are regular 1-2 second contractions, the super kegal which is a 20 second hold maintaining intensity throughout and the elevator kegal that gradually increases in intensity as you pull your pelvic floor muscles up higher in a progressive contraction 3-10x and releasing the contraction slowly.

One reason can be women working or more safety.

Executive Summary By Groshan Fabiola

The latest technology of pre-natal research has given women over 40 the possibility to give birth to healthy children as well as a 20 year old girl. Also new discovered treatments for sterility or different methods to help women with complicated pregnancies or chronicle diseases have increased the possibility of women to be elderly mums.

The concept “it is never too late” as well as different important business women and actresses example has encouraged women to have a baby later but when they are sure to have found a soul mate, have a success career, proper education and a good financial situation.

Although you can have a healthy baby at any age nowadays, often women give birth later because of sterility problems or late marriages.

Though, women aren’t always emotional ready to have a family at this age as a physical development doesn’t necessarily mean also mental maturity.

If a woman over 35 had no pathological miscarriages, does not suffer from sterility and is physically well, her chances of having a normal, healthy baby are the same of one 20 year old girl. One of the highest risks is that of giving birth to a baby with genetic disorders such as Down syndrome as for an over 35 year old the risk is 9 times higher. The risk of miscarriage increases after 35, as well as the one of developing health complications such as high blood pressure and diabetes. The labor at elder women is usually 45 minutes longer than for a young girl. Also complications during delivery prescribe the very modern cesarean section.

Endometriosis and fibroids are often encountered at women over 35 and can affect fertility and pregnancy evolution. All risks can be reduced to minimum when carefully planning the pregnancy and by physical preparation.

The baby’s organs form in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, so you need to eat well, take vitamins, restrain from alcohol and caffeine, eat and sleep well. Late maternity can mean less ambivalent feelings during pregnancy and more care about growing a child. Some parents spoil the child to much, especially when it’s only child.

What You Should Know About Pregnancy Eating Disorder
By Terry Edwards

Pregnancy eating disorders affect millions of young women each year. Eating disorders usually affect women of childbearing age, therefore making it harder for them to become pregnant or to have a healthy baby. This article will look at the two main types of eating disorders and how they can affect pregnancy.

The first type of eating disorder is called anorexia. It is characterized by starvation and excessive exercise to stay thin. People with anorexia have an intense fear of being fat. Severe anorexia requires aggressive treatment in an inpatient facility. Anorexia, if left untreated, can cause death by starvation.

The next type of eating disorder is called bulimia. This is characterized by a cycle of binge eating and purging. People with bulimia may be at a normal weight or slightly overweight. The complications of bulimia can be cardiovascular problems, bowel dysfunction, and the loss of tooth enamel, causing tooth decay, and menstrual irregularities. Since bulimia is a physical and psychological condition, it requires intensive treatment.

Women with eating disorders may find it very difficult to conceive because of the interruption of the menstrual cycle. A fetus needs nutrients from the mother to develop into a healthy baby. The complications that can arise in a pregnant woman that has an eating disorder are:

v    Premature labor or miscarriage.

v    Low birth weight or birth defects.

v    Stillbirth or fetal demise.

v    Stomach problems or bowel problems.

v    Dangerous complications during labor.

It is possible for a woman with an eating disorder to have a healthy baby. However, she must seek treatment. Reaching a healthy weight prior to pregnancy should be the main goal. It is very important to maintain the healthy weight during pregnancy through well balanced meals and prenatal vitamins to ensure a healthy baby.
The Advantages Of Pregnancy Pictures – A Journey To Remember!

Executive Summary By Abhishek Agarwal

While some pregnant mommies may shy away from the camera during this time because they don’t want pictures of their ever growing body, many women look back on this time with fondness and even show their kids what mommy looked like while carrying their little selves.

Many expectant mommies even like to document this change by taking pictures of themselves and their bellies ever few weeks. This can be a fun way to show family from away how quickly the little guy or girl is growing. It’s also fun because every pregnancy is different, and some mommies gain all of their weight towards the beginning of the pregnancy, while others gain it all in the last month. Ultrasound photos make a great companion to pregnant belly photos. It’s fun to see the little one in utero and the way mommy’s belly has grown to accommodate him or her. Ultrasound pictures have also made great steps and many can now be printed off high quality and 3-D, showcasing baby’s every facial detail.

Another way to capture the moment to remember forever is to film or have pictures taken at the birth. If dad doesn’t want to spend his time at delivery behind the camera, enlist the help of mom or sister.

Choosing a Photographer for Your Pregnancy Pictures

Executive Summary By Monica Nelson

If you’re looking for someone who could capture you at your pregnant best, not just any photographer would do.

Tips for Choosing a Photographer for Your Pregnancy Pictures

Tip #1 Look for a pregnancy photographer who understands the essence of pregnancy. Don’t consider gender or marital status as an indication that your photographer understands what pregnancy means. Understanding the essence of pregnancy, seeing the beauty of it and recognizing the glow of pregnant women is primarily dependent on the individual’s perspective of pregnancy regardless of who he is.

Tip #2 Experience is very important. A photographer with the desired expertise won’t waste your time committing various mistakes that a first-timer could do.

Ask for the photographer’s portfolio and exact samples of pregnancy photos to know whether he has the requisite experience or not.

Tip #3 Look for a pregnancy photographer with a style that matches your preferences. If you’re in love with sepia tone photographers, you won’t fall in love with the works of a photographer specializing in colored photos even if he had accepted numerous awards for his works. Again, ask for the photographer’s portfolio to get an idea if he can meet your expectations or not.

Tip #4 Although pregnant women are often described as glowing, this doesn’t mean they’re walking on sunshine all the time. Pregnancy can be an agonizing process: the added weight is unfamiliar and burdensome. There are also various pains and aches that pregnant women are exposed to during this time. If nausea often hits you during the day, you might prefer to have your photos taken at night. Will the photographer be able to do so? What if you’re confined to your home for the rest of your pregnancy? Is the photographer willing to conduct home sessions?

Tip #5 In the event that you’re willing to have your pregnancy photo taken in the studio, make sure that you look for the studio best equipped for pregnant clients like you. Look for the studio with the right service and supplies.

Tip #6 Also, look for a pregnancy photographer that you’re comfortable talking to. It’s hard to get perfect photos taken if you’re not comfortable with the person taking your picture. Look for a photographer that you don’t have problems expressing your concerns to.

Compare and contrast rates offered. Does the pregnancy photographer offer packaged deals? What kind of payment methods is offered?

Executive Summary By Beverly Maniago

As soon as a baby starts learning how to walk, a parent will have to consider replacing his clothes with pieces of toddler clothing. Toddlers have different needs compared to infants, and their toddler clothing should address these need.

First off, parents have to consider that toddlers still have short necks and sloping shoulders. Finally, toddlers are still crawling yet are learning to walk. How can parents address these needs? For one, parents should buy pieces of toddler clothing that address the proportion of their bodies. Also, pull-down pants are also ideal for toddlers who are starting their potty training. Toddlers are also prone to tantrums, so shopping for toddler clothing may prove to be difficult. Therefore, parents must prepare. Before shopping for toddler clothing, parents should feed their child and prepare no-mess snacks for the endeavor. This is to help pacify the toddler. If the toddler refuses to behave during toddler clothing shopping, parents should promise a reward for appropriate or good behavior. What matters is the toddler understands that he has to behave during the shopping. Since toddlers have very short attention span, it might help the parents could make the child involved in the shopping or, if all else fails, make the shopping short and quick.

Shopping for toddler clothes online is a good alternative, so parents need not bring their child outside.

Teens Giving Birth – Teen Pregnancies and How to Help With Them

Executive Summary By Wendy Pan

There are many social issues that plague the United States, and one of the dominant issues is teen pregnancy. Because teen pregnancy affects not only the teen mother and father, solutions must be found to this problem that has been rampant in this country. Teen pregnancy rates hit their peak in 1991, and for the last several years the rates have been declining. However, according to reports published in 2007, the rate of teens giving birth has again been on the rise. Teen pregnancy is an issue that affects all races, ethnicities and those of all socioeconomic classes. American Indian females, Caucasian females, and Hispanic females all experienced an increase in the number of teen pregnancies reported as well. Teen females are those females aged 15-19. It has been determined that no single factor influences teen pregnancy. Unfortunately, the teens portrayed in popular entertainment rarely suffer consequences from their promiscuity, which is incredibly misleading as many teen females discover when it is too late.

The consequences to the children of teen mothers and to society at large include:

Increased health care costs

Increased foster case costs

Increased incarceration costs

Lower tax revenues

These consequences result because teens giving birth are more likely to smoke and less likely to receive prenatal care. Babies born to teen mothers tend to be underweight, which generally requires more medical attention to ensure the baby’s health. Teen mothers are less likely to be married, which leaves the teen mother to raise the child as a single parent.

Teen Pregnancies In Orlando Schools
Executive Summary By Patricia Hawke

Times have changed and so have all social paradigms. One of the gravest ones today is that of teen pregnancies in schools across the country. including the Orlando schools.

A teen pregnancy, though the result of a few moments of careless indulgence, usually open up a Pandora ‘s Box. Abstinence, Improved Sex Education or Birth Control – a rather difficult choice for Orlando schools

Dealing with teen pregnancies is certainly not easy for anyone concerned not just in Orlando schools. There are a few options that Orlando schools have. One is taking the conservative approach to solving the problem and espousing abstinence. No wonder, Orlando schools are being forced to seriously consider other options.

Though sex education is already a part of the curriculum across Orlando schools starting from elementary through high school, it still is far from enough in dissuading teens from having (unsafe) sex and/or getting pregnant. The result is that Orlando schools continue to have to deal with young mothers and their problems.

Propagating birth control and safe sex, which is a very liberal approach seems to be the only way out. Maternity Leave for Pregnant Girls in Orlando Schools?

Another recent debate has been over whether teenaged pregnant girls in Orlando schools should qualify for maternity leave. On the contrary, some surveys have revealed that most teens across Orlando schools, who have already had a sexual encounter/experience, actually repented not having waited longer.

So, what remains to be seen is whether the conservative approach holds the key to the problem of teen pregnancies in Orlando schools.

Teeny Weenie Pregnancies
Executive Summary By Kacy Carr

How many times does a parent have to remind their child about contraception, and sexually transmitted diseases. In some unfortunate cases children just do not listen and choose to ignore the best advice any parent can give to their child.

It is hard for a parent to see their child having a child. Unwanted pregnancies in teens, a sad situation but the damage is done so accept the situation and start to face up to responsibilities

Matters intend to get out of hand by leaving it to late to consult a doctor or talking to your parents. If you have any inclinations that you are pregnant seek help right away.

What is mum and dad going to say may be causing you unnecessary worry.
Believe me when I say if ever you needed anyone to give you support throughout this teenage pregnancy, it is your mum so talk to her.

Contraception is about helping to stop unwanted pregnancies also STDs are prevented by the use of a condom. Which would be the worst an unwanted teen pregnancy or a STD. I am not saying that every teen pregnancy has not worked out for some young mums today, but for a great many it has ruined their lives. Do you want to raise a baby, especially one that has ruined your life. Sadly many teen mums don’t so the innocent baby has to suffer.

Come on girls and boys think of the consequences. If you choose to ignore all the golden rules then you have to accept the consequences.

I do not wish to frighten you, just make you aware that teen mums that have not fully reached puberty themselves may need extra care and attention.

People who deal with these type of situations are very understanding and compassionate regarding whatever maybe troubling you about your pregnancy or any STD concerns..
