Maintain a Healthy Weight During Pregnancy

Executive Summary By Wilma Jones

weight gain during pregnancy

It is a general feeling out there among pregnant women that there is nothing that you can do to maintain a healthy weight during pregnancy and avoid too much weight gain. What we are concerned with is avoiding excessive weight gain or more specifically keeping your weight gain to a healthy and attractive minimum.

There are so many aggravating issues associated with weight gain and pregnancy. Not only can it be a particularly stressful and emotional time, but problems such as sagging breasts, stretch marks, cellulite and acne are common side effects. Furthermore an exercise and diet program will ensure that you gain the weight slowly and lose it quickly and be free of those common aches and pains.

Omega 3 Fish Oil Supplements During Pregnancy

By Moss Greene

Omega 3 fish oil supplements during pregnancy are necessary for a healthy baby.

Studies show fish oil with EPA and DHA during pregnancy contributes significantly to the baby’s nervous system and brain development and to better health for both mother and child.

The EPA and DHA in cold water fatty fish plays such a vital role in fetus development that many experts recommend pregnant women get at least 900mgs a day.

The Reality of Fish Oil Supplements During Pregnancy

Scientists believe the EPA and DHA found in fish and fish oil supplements can help even before conception. Women need omega 3 oils to produce healthy eggs and men need them for the production, energy, strength and mobility of their sperm.

EPA and DHA make up nearly 70% of a newborn baby’s brain, retina and nervous system. A deficiency is also linked to the risk of premature births and abnormally low birth weights.

Among pregnant women, only 2% had diets that met their needs. This deficiency is blamed on the depletion of omega 3 oils in our food, the concern over mercury in some fish and the trend against eating oil rich fish, such as salmon.

A Lack of Fish Oil EPA and DHA During Pregnancy

Not getting enough of these essential oils can also put the mother at risk for both pre-eclampsia (pregnancy-related high blood pressure) and post-partum depression.

A pregnant woman, for example, may lose as much as 3% of her own brain mass when she’s transferring EPA and DHA to her baby over the last three months of pregnancy. Women with post-partum depression have been found to have very low levels of omega 3 fatty acids in their mother’s milk and red blood cells.

To be healthy and to have healthy children, women need to eat more fatty fish and supplement their diets daily with high quality fish oil capsules containing balanced EPA and DHA.

As you can see, omega 3 fish oil supplements during pregnancy offer many benefits.

They helps to prevent pre-eclampsia and post-partum depression, while at the same time insuring that your baby gets the nutrition necessary to go full term, maintain a good body weight and to have a well developed brain and nervous system.

Ovulation

Executive Summary By Elizabeth Morgan

ovulation test

Ovulation is one such phase of the menstrual cycle, when an egg or ovum is released from ovaries. It does sound simple, but Ovulation depends on the interplay of glands and hormones. In turn, the pituitary gland produces luteinizing hormone (LH) and FSH. High levels of LH cause Ovulation within two days. If the ovum does not encounter a sperm within 24 hours it dies.

This persuades them to mistake Ovulation for premenstrual symptoms, if accompanied by pain and changes in body.

Ovulation And Conception

Conception and Ovulation are two sides of same coin and a crucial stage in the delicate balance of hormonal system, sperm production and pregnancy. A man produces sperm every day, while women ovulate only once during an ovulation cycle. During Conception several eggs are released by both ovaries. Ovulation is triggered by the body releasing luteinizing hormone, or LH. The embryo, containing about 50 to 100 cells, reaches the uterus about five days after ovulation. Certain antibiotics, like tetracyclines, affect a woman’s cycle of hormonal contraception, fertility treatments or hormone replacement therapy. Traveling, change of jobs, illness, weight loss or vigorous exercising can affect Ovulation.

On occasions, such as sex during fertile time, some women do not conceive immediately, or the egg does not implant even with Ovulation. The problem is the timing of intercourse, since Conception takes place with Ovulation and it is spoiled by hard work, stress or problems. Strategize Conception and Ovulation by maintaining an Ovulation calendar to predict fertile dates, end of menstrual cycle and possible due dates.

Ovulation and Conception are major issues in a woman’s life, Conception is more likely to be successful if a woman maintains a calm attitude through activities and diet that enhance fertility.

Ovulation Bleeding

Ovulation Bleeding is different from menstrual flow. If bleeding occurs at 2 weeks interval then it is due to lack of ovulation and can be due to irritation to cervix or polyps in cervix or uterus. A clinical examination with an ultrasound image of pelvic organs can confirm the cause of Ovulation Bleeding.

It is during this process of maturing and bursting out from the follicle that pain or bleeding occurs. Few women are discomfited by bleeding, as it is a signal of ovulation, or they bleed slightly in middle of their cycle. Severe or long-lasting bleeding during ovulation is sometimes symptomatic of certain gynecological conditions, including endometriosis. Also if bleeding is heavy during ovulation or lasts longer than 3 days then take medical advice.

Women with regular menstrual bleeding can differentiate between Ovulation Bleeding and the menstrual period. A physical examination of the uterus helps detect causes of abnormal bleeding. If Ovulation Bleeding is accompanied by pain or acute discomfiture, then start worrying.

How to Gain Weight Healthily

Executive Summary By Jay Brunswick

Gaining weight can be a tough process. There are so many sites on the web that deal with the weight loss problems, but not so many of those which deal with weight gain. Weight loss market has literally flooded this relatively small niche, so it is very hard for an underweight person to actually find any useful information!

Dealing with weight gain can be as painful as weight loss. What I find the most important to start with weight gain is the mindset, the mental condition. I like to mention to my friends and family how I feel about weight gain. I say weight gain is a “mental war” – the act of yourself fighting against your own brains.

  • Say to yourself that you are capable of a continuous battle against your body
  • Believe that you can achieve a goal!
  • Be ready to change your lifestyle!
  • Be prepared to change your eating habits!

Secondly, there is a healthy weight gain diet plan. Now, most of us can eat lots of food but not gain any weight at all. Why? What you need is a detailed diet plan. The key is in the stabilized diet. By stabilized I mean that your meals should contain all types of foods – Proteins, carbs, fibers, fat, vitamins, minerals. You can count your calories online with a free calorie counter at http://caloriecount.about.com/ Then when you have the number, add additional 500 calories per day to gain 1 pound. Breakfasts are vital! Waking up at noon and then jumping straight to lunch simply won’t work. Exercises count too!

However I wouldn’t recommend you do the aerobic exercises such as running and stationary bicycling because they are better for fat loss and excessive aerobic training may cause you to lose more weight.

Easy Ways to Gain Weight Fast

By Ryan Riley

If you are someone who is desperately trying to lose weight, then gaining weight easily is a very bad thing. But, if you are one of the millions of weight lifters who is working hard to gain weight and therefore muscle mass, eating frequently and gaining little if any weight is a major obstacle to progress. Hardgainers are the envy of obese people everywhere in that they can eat and eat and never really seem to gain any weight. In addition to above average metabolism, hardgainers tend to have muscles that simply don’t repair torn muscle tissue as well as others. It’s important to understand that the average muscle building workout is not intended for hardgainers. On the contrary, most bodybuilding workouts presuppose that you can easily gain muscle mass.

It’s entirely possible that a normal workout for some can cause most hardgainers to actually lose rather than gain muscle mass.

The keys to gaining weight fast are understanding how much rest time you need between sets in order to maximize your muscle gains and how much your strain, or tearing, your muscles can actually handle. This assumes that you are lifting heavy weights. For hardgainers, sufficient sleep is also very important to gaining weight fast.
